Your hair dryer should be fast and efficient. The problem with most hair dryers is that they take a lot of time to dry hair. And this means exposing your hair and extensions to more heat.
Heat is cancerous to your hair’s roots and also for your extensions. It can strip your hair and scalp of its nutrients and leave your roots lifeless. The result will be damaged, frizzy, and brittle hair.
Hair extensions don’t have nutrients or vitamins. But heat can still damage them. This is because heat penetrates through the cuticles and damages the shaft of the extensions. It makes the extensions flat and slowly burns them away.
Natural/Cold Air
Make sure your hair dryer offers cold/natural air as an option. Cold/natural air will help dry your hair quickly, without damaging the roots.
While it sounds surprising, cold air helps evaporate moisture without weakening the hair follicles. Heat slowly burns the follicles and before you know it, you end up with brittle, damaged hair. Moreover, heat irritates the scalp, whereas, cold air offers a cooling and soothing effect.
Bonus Tip: Don’t Use a Towel Vigorously
When you get out of the shower, don’t use a towel vigorously to dry your hair. Wet hair and extensions are vulnerable to breakage. Not only will you end up with hair fall, you risk damaging your hair as well.
Pat your hair dry gently and then use a hair dryer (set it to cold air.) This way, you won’t risk damaging your extensions.
